Domain Transfer Preparation

Before you place an order to transfer a .com, .net or .org domain we ask that you:

1.Ensure that the email address for the administrative contact for the domain is a) a valid email address and b) that the recipient will respond to emails sent to them regarding this transfer. Confirm that you have a current email address registered as the current domain registrant. You will be contacted to authorise the transfer.

2. Ensure the domain name is not locked. We can not transfer locked domains. You may need to contact your current provider to confirm the domain name transfer will be authrised and that the domain is unlocked. They may request this from you in writing by way of a letter or fax.

3. Obtain Authorisation Code (sometimes referred to as the EPP or Password for your domain) from your present supplier if you do not already have it.

4. If you require your QiQ hosting associated with a domain not yet under our control to be activated, you will need to ask your present supplier to change the nameservers for the domain name to the nameservers detailed in your hosting welcome email.

If you do not require your hosting account to go live until after the domain has transferred, we can change these details for you once the transfer completes.

Ordering your transfer

Once these steps have been completed, place your order online for the domain transfer:

HERE

There is a charge for the transfer of a domain name to QiQ. For a .com, .net and .org domain, this includes extending the expiry period of the domain by an additional 12 months.

What Happens Next?

Once the transfer has been started, the current administrative contact will receive an email containing two web address, one of which will need to be clicked to confirm the transfer. Upon acceptance of the transfer, it can take up to 7 days for the transfer to complete.

Depending on the current registrar, the administrative contact may also receive another email - this might be confusing or potentially misleading if the registrar is trying to keep the business. Others are more open about letting people move domain names away. Please read any such emails carefully as contained in them there will be a link to authorise the transfer, which may well be hidden amongst offers for you to stay with the current registrar. Once this email has been responded to in the timescale specified by that Registrar the domain will then be transferred to QiQ.
