1. The .uk launch date is 08:00hrs on 10 June 2014.
2. For the majority of customers the new .uk equivalent domain will be automatically reserved for you when it launches at 08:00hrs on 10 June 2014. So if you have a unique .co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk, .net.uk, .plc.uk or .ltd.uk the shorter and snappier .uk will be reserved especially for you.
3. The reservation period for existing customers who already have a .co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk, .net.uk, .ltd.uk or .plc.uk runs up until 07:59hrs on 10 June 2019
4. You can check the Rights lookup tool for information on who has first rights for any existing .UK domain.
5. All rights to new .uk domains will cease if an existing domain is not renewed.
6. New registrations of .co.uk domains made before 08:00hrs on 10 June 2014 (provided that no other equivalent .org.uk, .me.uk, .net.uk, ltd.uk or .plc.uk exists) will get the rights to the new .uk domain.
7. After launch on 10 June 2014 any new registrations within the .uk family (e.g. in .co.uk, .org.uk etc) no longer get automatic rights to register the new .uk domain. So these new .uk domains become available for anyone to register.
8. For some of you there will have been more than one domain that existed before the cut off date which shared the same website name as yours but had different domain name endings (i.e. www.example.co.uk and www.example.org.uk). Therefore you can check whether you have the rights to the new .uk by using the Rights lookup tool.
9. If you decide not to register the new .uk equivalent domain before 10 June 2019, it will then become available for someone else to register, but your existing domain will of course still be yours as long as it remains registered to you.
10. If at any time you decide not to renew your existing domain, the .uk equivalent will automatically become available for someone else to register.
